Lauren Breunig is a seasoned performer and circus instructor. As an aerialist, acrobat, musician, and teacher, she is versatile and engaging on the ground and in the air. She fell in love with circus while working as a counselor at Circus Smirkus summer camp during college. That love drew her to study with social circus organization El Circo del Mundo in Santiago, Chile during her semester abroad, where she witnessed inspiring transformations in her students and began to see circus as a tool for empowerment. After earning her BA, she started taking classes at the New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA) in Brattleboro VT. Now a graduate of NECCA’s professional training programs, she has worked with world-class coaches from Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Eloize, Ringling Brothers, and Pilobolus. She has taught aerials and acrobatics to youth and adults at NECCA, Circus Smirkus camps, and pioneered the aerials program at the Greenbelt Youth Circus in Greenbelt, MD. She is also an intern for the American Youth Circus Organization (AYCO), where she has compiled information and created advocacy tools about social circus and the benefits of circus arts for youth.
